With Lil Ben's third surgery coming up and he being almost 5 and 1/2 years old, he is starting to ask what it will be like. I thought the best way to answer this for him was to put together a picture story of the last two surgeries. I started with this one, because I think he will relate better to himself as a little boy rather than as an infant. I will get to the first surgery soon.
Pre-Op Appointment- in good spirits so long as we are eating!
Daddy shaved his head the night before surgery!
Daddy getting some work done in the ICU.
Hours after surgery- still with all the bandages on.
Poppy visiting in the ICU.
Day after surgery and all the bandages come off! Poor little guy, his eyes are swollen completely shut. Can't leave the ICU and go to a regular room until he can open them again!
Mom trying to hold his hands. He is not happy because he can not see!
Eating some ice cream! You can't see it in this picture, but he had a donut in his other hand.
His eyes are open just a little bit, but he is putting his head back so he can look at me!
If you look closely, you can see he is looking at the camera.
Daddy came to spend the day and give mommy a break- and Lil B got to go for numerous wagon rides.
Mom is back to spend the night and poor little guy needed to have his IV restarted. This was the aftermath. He just wanted to cuddle.
We are so close to going home!! Down in the food court at Vandy Children's Hospital. Poor thing! He is trying to eat with one hand!
Visiting the trains for like the umpteenth time!
Hanging out in the room! We must have gotten bored!
On the way home!
20 days after surgery and he is running around at the zoo! You can see his hair still hasn't grown back much!
Close up at the zoo!
Seeing the pics makes me so sad for him and what all he has been through already. I will be thinking about you all, and PLEASE let us know if you need anything!!!!!
